INITIATE your path to growth

Throughout my career I stay passionately involved with the teams. I pursue a very approachable management style that fosters teamwork. My favorite question to every team is ‘Why’ to analyze and challenge ideas and steer the team to creative thinking and problem solving.

I am proud to have opened several new projects and set them up to a successful path.

Throughout my career I have increased guest service scores. Some notables are the ‘Virgin Bronze Award for Best Hotel in Florida’ and other high housekeeping and guest service scores while employed with Hilton.

Financial management of the operation is also strength of mine. In every capacity, I have consistently surpassed budgeted expectations and exceeded set Return on Investments.

I believe in constant improvement and am very detail oriented.

Licenses and accreditations include the Florida CAM license, the AHLEI CHA accreditation as Certified Hotel Administrator and the ARDA - RRP accreditation.

I am also trained in administering and evaluating the Predictive Index Human Resource Solution (PI)

I stay involved in the community as well as the local hospitality scene, such as Skål and attending CFHLA and HSMAI meetings.

Since 2017, I am a certified leadership coach with the John C. Maxwell Team. This program has strengthened my coaching and speaking skills as well as authorize me to teach his outstanding leadership principles.

Career Path:

I started my hospitality career in 1988 as a bellman at the Hilton in Huntsville, AL.

During my 10 year tenure at this property, I went through every position of this 256 room convention hotel, with an emphasis on the Rooms Division.

After my advancement was topped out as Rooms Division Manager, I took my next challenge at Candlewood Suite as the Assistant General Manager and experienced the extended stay market for close to 2 years.

My next venture was a short detour with Marriott as Front Office Manager at the Kansas City Downtown property, a 983 room convention hotel.

My roots took me back as Director of Rooms at the 729 room Hilton Milwaukee City Center, a gorgeous art deco hotel from 1927. This property had plenty of convention space plus an indoor water park.

Enduring the winters in the north, my wife (a native Floridian) and I found our next challenge in Kissimmee Florida as the Resort Manager for HAPIMAG - Lake Berkley Resort for close to three years. HAPIMAG, the founder in Europe of the points based vacation ownership business model, was looking for a German speaking leader. I opened this brand new construction and hired and trained a winning team. Along with managing the European guests, we implemented and sold the vacant inventory in the highly competitive Orlando market. Throughout this journey I established excellent industry connections that proved helpful in my future endeavors in marketing hotels.

I departed HAPIMAG as my family needed to be located in a better school district. This led me to be VP/Director of Operations for Integra Resorts. This position encompassed leading the 500 unit Bahama Bay Condominium Resort while overseeing 4 other smaller operations. These other properties included 2 condo resorts on the beach in Daytona, one condo resort in Orlando, plus a Microtel operation. I departed Integra Resorts as the company was selling their portfolio and shortly after my departure left Florida.

Starting in 2006, for next 10 years, I held several positions with Festiva/Patton Hospitality. I opened the Blue Heron Beach Resort in Orlando. This 283 unit condo hotel is just outside the gates of Walt Disney World. Hiring and training a winning team lead to the successful marketing of this property. After 5 years as General Manager, I took on the challenge as Regional Manager overseeing two additional properties. Since 2013, I have been overseeing multiple operations, up to 10 properties encompassing 14 HOA’s as Regional Director of Operations. My properties includeed 7 properties in Florida, 2 locations in Orange Beach Alabama and 1 location in Ocean City Maryland.

Personal Path:

Born and raised in Germany for the first 16 years.

Moved to the US in 1983 and finished High School.

Went to the University of Alabama in Huntsville with studies in Physics, Engineering and Business Management.

Got my start in the hospitality industry in 1988. As I tell every potential hospitality applicant, “Once you get sucked in, you can not leave”. Found success in this career path and finally received my BS in Human Resource Management.

I enjoy teaching/coaching and developing leaders. Especially supervisors and first time managers to find their style and motivation.

In my spare time, I restored several antique automobiles ranging from a 57 Bel Air, 67 Mustang and 72 Porsche 911, to name the major projects. I would perform complete ground up restorations with the exception of painting them.

I have an interest in technology and try to keep up with the latest trends.
